Steven Michael Shank, age 43, of Rochester, MN, formerly of Iowa City, IA, died peacefully Monday, February 4, 2019 at St. Marys Hospital, after courageously battling the complications of Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome for many years, and being blessed with over two years of life following a double lung transplant in 2016.
Steve was born December 2, 1975 in Iowa City, IA the son of Ronald and Sandra (Earle) Shank.
Steve is preceded in death by paternal and maternal grandparents, Dorothy and Harold Shank, and Wayne and Genevieve Earle; and his parents, Ronald and Sandra Shank.
He is survived by his wife, Caren; children, Ani and Elliott; brother, Greg Shank of Otsego, MN; mother-in-law, Eileen (Marvin) Klema of Fountain, MN; sister-in-law, Jennifer Hanson of Austin, TX; and so many good friends.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, February 11, 2019 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Rochester, MN with Rev. Thomas Loomis officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 10th in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester. There will be a special visitation time on Sunday between 4:30 – 5:00 PM for those who are immunocompromised. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
