Sales Manager – Minnesota 97.5 – KNXR Media

Position Summary:

Plan and direct the sales activities in the Rochester Market. Meet and exceed revenue goals by developing sales staff, creating a sales strategy designed to achieve company goals, and building a customer- focused sales culture and continually orienting the organization toward growth using Radio and our Digital Media products to provide results for our customers.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Create sales strategy and vision for the market and stations, with effective short and long- term sales marketing plans.
  • Be a Digital Advertising Expert.
  • Optimize CRM system.
  • Effectively price and manage inventory.
  • Create recruitment plan and monitor recruitment efforts, insuring full talent bank.
  • Project and forecast revenues monthly/annually.
  • Monitor target account development.
  • Lead weekly sales meetings.
  • Attend Networking Events
  • Build and maintain relationships with Sales staff and clients.
  • Clearly communicate expectation for Sales Department.
  • Work with staff to maximize non-spot/digital revenue opportunities.
  • Manage department annual spending budget. Help provide creative solutions and quality execution to sales to help meet earnings goals.
  • Builds working relationships with co-workers, customers, vendors and the general public. Acts in a professional manner when representing each station.
  • Reports to work on time and works established schedule/hours. Ability to work other hours or alternate schedules as needed, as assigned by the Market Manager or required to complete a project or task.
  • Normal Business Hours, Monday through Friday 8AM-5PM with some weekend events.
  • Other duties as needed.

Working Environment:

Works in professional, collaborative team environment with a number of members. Normally a typical office environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues. Travels to client offices and events. Business-professional appearance, dress, and manner are necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in media sales management required. Radio and Digital sales management in cluster environment preferred.
  • Prior experience with teaching, training, and recruiting; proven ability to help people grow and motivate to be better sales people.
  • Highly organized, sound judgment.
  • Skilled communicator. Ability to establish and maintain customer relationships; communicate effectively with a wide range of personalities in a professional and courteous manner. The ability to motivate and instill confidence in clients is critical.
  • Demonstrated success in leadership and goal attainment in adverse market conditions
  • Ideal candidate embraces Customer Focused Selling philosophy
  • Proven track record for achieving and exceeding sales budgets
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and manage systems
  • Fluent in ratings analysis, spot schedules and traffic systems.
  • Ability to build a strong base of business through local direct client contact.
  • Proven professional presentation skills with the ability to close a sale.
  • Must have revenue and expense management skills
  • Must be able to drive and have a valid driver’s license for daily travel to client meetings and events.
  • Experience working as a team member with the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with a variety of individuals.
  • Ability to work on short deadlines and in pressure situations.
